The Nun Study -- The Nun Study is a longitudinal study of aging and Alzheimer's disease funded by the National Institute on Aging. Participants are 678 American members of the School Sisters of Notre Dame religious congregation, 75-103 years of age. The purpose of this page is to give a brief background of the study and to present the latest results.
AARP -- AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) is a non-profit organization that strives to inform and educate the population about issues and concerns of older persons. The Association lobbies for issues that affect older Americans. Membership is open to anyone over 50.
National Institute on Aging -- The National Institute on Aging (NIA), one of the 25 institutes and centers of the National Institutes of Health, leads a broad scientific effort to understand the nature of aging and to extend the healthy, active years of life. The NIA provides leadership in aging research, training, health information dissemination, and other programs relevant to older people.
